向世界宣佈用英語怎麼說

用英語做出承諾和預測 Making promises and predictions

05:30

It will stop raining by 6 p。 m。 on Tuesday and the temperature will reach high as 12 degrees。

週二下午六點將停止下雨,氣溫將達到十二度。

I‘ll look after your dog while you’re on holiday。

你去度假時我會照顧你的狗。

I‘ll be home all week, so he’ll have lots of company。

我整個星期都在家,所以會有很多時間陪它。

We‘ll make it on time, stop worrying。

我們會準時到的,不用擔心。

Okay, you’ll finish the task for homework tonight。

好了,你今晚要完成作業。

“I will”, “you will”, “he/she will”, “they will”, “we will”, so many plans。

In English, we use the verb “will” to describe future events。

I will,you will,he/she will,they will,we will,如此多的計劃。

在英語中,我們用動詞 will 來描述將來發生的事情。

There are four key circumstances when you might use the word “will”。

你可以在四種關鍵的情況下使用 will 這個詞。

The first is to make a prediction about something you think will happen in the future。

第一種是預測你認為未來會發生的事情。

“It will stop raining by 6 pm on Tuesday and the temperature will reach highs of 12 degrees。”

Using the phrase “it will” imply a degree of certainty like you‘ve done your research or you have evidence to back up your claim。

“雨將於週二下午六點停止,氣溫將達到 12 度。”

使用短語 it will 意味著一定程度的確定性,比如你已經做了研究或你有證據支援你的主張。

If you’re saying something without having proof, you could say “Oh, I think it will rain later。”

“Why?” - “There are lots of clouds in the sky。”

The next use of the word “will” is to offer to do something for somebody。

如果你說的話沒有證據,你可以說:“我覺得待會可能會下雨。”

“為什麼?” - “因為外面烏雲密佈。”

Will 的下一個用法是主動為某人做某事。

In this context, the “will” is less of a certainty and more of an offer。

在這種情況下,will 相比於表達一種確定,更是一種提議。

The person you‘re offering to help out could accept or decline your offer。

你提供幫助的人可以接受或拒絕你的提議。

“I’ll look after your dog while you‘re on holiday。 I’ll be home all week so he‘ll have lots of company。”

“Yeah, thank you, but my sister’s already offered to take care of him。”

It‘s quite common to add a phrase onto the end of an offer like this, such as “if you like” or “if that would help”。

“你去度假時我會照顧你的狗。我整個星期都在家,所以會有很多時間陪它。”

“謝謝,但是我的姐姐已經答應照顧它了。”

在後面加上一句話是很常見的,比如 if you like 或者 if that would help。

“Hey, what are you doing?”

“Hi。 I’m trying to write a letter of resignation to work but I‘ve been staring at it for too long and now I can’t tell if it makes sense。”

“I can read through it if you like。”

“That would be so helpful, thank you。”

By saying “I can read through it if you like”, you‘re saying you would only want to read through the letter if your friend wants you to。

“嘿,你在幹嘛?”

“嗨,我想寫一封辭職信,但我盯著它看了很長時間了,不知道有沒有寫對。”

“如果可以,我幫你看看。”

“這真的能幫上忙,謝謝。”

說 I can read through it if you like,你是在說,只有在你朋友同意的情況下,你才會看這封信。

It can make the offer seem more polite and you might use it if you’re worried that you might be stepping on somebody‘s toes or make it seem less forceful。

這可以讓提議看起來更禮貌,如果你擔心你會冒犯到別人,你可以這樣說,或讓你說的話聽起來沒那麼強勢。

Another use of the word “will” is to promise or reassure someone of something that you believe to be true。

Will 的另一種用法是向某人承諾或保證你認為是真實的事情。

“We’ll make it on time, stop worrying。”

Notice how with this example, we‘ve used a contraction of “we will” to make the word “we’ll”, “we‘ll”。

“我們會準時到的,不用擔心。”

注意在這個例子中,我們用了 we will 的縮寫,變成 we’ll,we‘ll。

Similarly to when we make a prediction the word “will” is used here to show certainty。

類似地,當我們做預測時,will 用於表示確定性。

It is supposed to be comforting because you’re promising that something will certainly happen。

它起到安慰人的作用,因為你承諾某事一定會發生。

“We‘ll make it on time, stop worrying。”

“Well, we were supposed to be there half an hour ago。”

But sometimes people use it to make promises they just can’t deliver。

“我們會準時到的,別擔心。”

“我們半個小時前就該到的。”

但有時人們用它來做出無法兌現的承諾。

And finally, you can use the word “will” to describe a decision you‘ve just made。

最後,你可以用 will 來描述你剛剛做的決定。

This implies that it’s a spur of the moment decision that was not planned in advance。

這意味著這是一時衝動的決定,而不是事先計劃好的。

I‘m going to show you two different conversations and I’d like you to pay close attention to the difference。

我將給你們展示兩個不同的對話,我希望你們仔細留意它們的區別。

“I‘m going to cook spaghetti bolognese tonight but oh, we don’t have any pasta。”

“Ah, I‘m going to the supermarket on my way home。”

“Oh, are you?”

“Yeah, I’ll add it to the list。”

“Yeah, I‘m going to cook spaghetti bolognese tonight, oh, um hang on, we don’t have any pasta。”

“I‘ll stop at the supermarket on my way home。”

“That would be so helpful, thanks。”

Notice how in the first conversation, “I’m going to the supermarket on the way home” was used to explain that the plan was all ready to go to the supermarket。

“今晚我要做義大利肉醬面,但是,噢,我們沒有義大利麵。”

“我在回家的路上順便去趟超市。”

“是嗎?”

“我會買回來的。”

“今晚我要做義大利肉醬面,等等,我們沒有義大利麵。”

“回家的路上我會在超市停一下。”

“真好,謝謝你。”

注意在第一個對話中,I‘m going to the supermarket on the way home 是用來解釋去超市的計劃已經打算好了。

This was not a new plan, it was planned in advance。

這不是一個新計劃,這是事先計劃好的。

However, in conversation two, “I’ll stop at the supermarket on my way home” told us that this plan had just been made。

然而,在對話二中,I‘ll stop at the supermarket on my way home 告訴我們這個計劃是剛剛決定的。

So to recap, we have learned about four uses for the word “will”。

回顧一下,我們已經學習了 will 的四種用法。

Number one, to make a prediction。

第一,預測。

“The bears will win this game, they always beat the tigers。”

Number two is to offer to do something for someone。

“熊將贏得這場比賽,它們總是打敗老虎。”

第二種是主動為別人做些事情提建議。

“I’ll make you a cup of tea if you like。”

Number three is to make a promise。

“如果你想喝的話,我給你泡杯茶。”

第三是做出承諾。

“I will call you as soon as I know more。”

And number four is to describe a recent decision。

“一有訊息我就給你打電話。”

第四個是描述最近做的一個決定。

“Ah, I‘ll buy Chris a skateboard for Christmas。”

So now, it’s your turn, in the comments, I‘d like you to write four four different sentences using the verb “will”。

“我要給克里斯買個滑板作為聖誕禮物。”

現在輪到你們了,在評論中,我希望你們用動詞 will 寫出四個不同的句子。

One prediction, one offer, one promise and one decision。

一個預測,一個提議,一個承諾和一個決定。

If your sentences are perfect, I will use the heart button and I’ll correct any mistakes otherwise。

如果你的句子寫得完美,我會給你點贊,否則,我會幫你改錯。

Okay, so until next time, don‘t forget to give this video a big thumb up and once you’ve done your sentences, then why not come and join me in another lesson?

好了,下次再見,別忘記給這個影片點贊,一旦你寫好你的句子,為什麼不來和我一起上另一堂課呢?

I‘ll see you there。

那裡見。
