practice

practice既可以用作名詞，也可以做動詞，英式英語動詞形式為practise。

Practice makes perfect。

I like playing volleyball。 Sometimes we practice after school。

practice doing sth。 練習做某事

He often practices playing the violin on the playground in the morning。

keep on doing sth。

keep on doing sth。 意為“繼續做某事”，表示克服困難繼續堅持，強調反覆性和決心，可接非延續性動詞（表示反覆），也可接延續性動詞。

She kept on raising her hand。

易混辨析 keep on doing/ keep doing

（ 1 ） keep on doing表示動作反覆，強調動作與動作之間有時間間隔及某人不怕困難或警告堅持做某事的決心。

They would have preferred to keep on working。

（ 2 ） keep doing 表示連續不斷的動作，或某一動作的持續狀態。

The boy kept watching the passing traffic at the gate。

be sure about

be sure意為“確信，有把握”，其常用結構：

（ 1 ） be sure to do sth。 一定會做。。。。。

You are sure to fail if you do it that way。

（ 2 ） be sure of/ about sth。 對……有把握

Are you sure of/ about time？

（ 3 ） be sure + that從句 相信……

Can we be sure that she‘s right？

（ 4 ） make sure 查明，弄清，確保

She looked around to make sure that she was alone。

send

send 做動詞，意為“寄，傳送，派遣，打發”，其過去式和過去分詞均為sent，常見搭配：

send sth。 傳送/寄某物

send sb。 sth。 = send sth。 to sb。 把某物寄（送）給某人（sth。為代詞時，只能用send sth。 to sb。 結構）

send sb。 to do sth。 派遣某人去做某事

send sb。 to some place 派某人去某地

You’d better send the letter by air。

She sent me a Christmas card。 = She sent a Christmas card to me。

He sent his son to return the books to the library。

Peter‘s boss sent him to New York。

句式剖析

What do you want to be when you grow up？

這是一個含有時間狀語從句的主從複合句。主句是want to be 結構，從句是when引導的時間狀語從句。若主從句的動作均未發生，則主句用一般將來時，祈使句或含有情態動詞的句子，從句用一般現在時代替一般將來時。

I’m going to play basketball when I finish my homework。

考點提煉：

grow up 常用來指人或動物長大、成年或成熟。

She is growing up fast。

grow up還可以引申為“發展”的意思。

A close friendship gradually grows up between them。 他們之間的友誼日漸親密。

—— How are you going to do that？

—— I‘m going to practice basketball every day。

“be going to + 動詞原形” 在句中做謂語，是一般將來時的一種表達形式，表示主語打算、準備或有信心去做某事，其中going並不表示“去；而以前學過的”be going to + 表示地點的名詞“是表示主語打算、準備去某地的意思，其中going表示”去“，to 是介詞，後跟表示地點的名詞。比較：

We are going to play tennis this afternoon。

We are going to Beijing this afternoon。

Wow， now I know why you’re so good at writing stories。

why you‘re so good at writing stories為賓語從句，做know的賓語。賓語從句要用陳述語序。

Please tell me how old you are。

Do you know what his name is。

Not everyone know what they want to be。

what they want to be是一個賓語從句。注意賓語從句要用陳述句語序。

試比較：

你可以告訴我們剛才你做了什麼。

誤：You can tell us what did you do just now。

正：You can tell us what you did just know。

析：在賓語從句中，從句一般要用陳述句語序。

考點提煉：部分否定

not everyone意為”不是每個人“。在英語中，not與all， every， everyone， both， everything等詞連用時表示部分否定，意為”並不都……“。

Not everyone likes the outdoor activities。
