Shopping for School Supplies

買學習用品

Mom： You‘re going to start school next week。

媽媽：你們下星期就開學了。

It’s time to go shopping for school supplies。

該去買學習用品了。

Supplies是什麼什麼用品的意思，比如美術用品就是art supplies。

Your teacher sent me a list this morning。

你們老師今天早上給我發了一個單子。

Are you ready to go？

準備好出發了嗎？

Child： Yes。

寶寶：準備好了。

At the Supermarket 在超市

Mom： Check off the items as we put them in the shopping cart。

媽媽：咱們把哪樣東西放到購物車裡了，就打個勾。

Child： Okay。 It says we need a lot of writing utensils。

寶寶：好的。上面寫著我們需要很多筆。

Writing utensil是鉛筆、鋼筆、水筆、圓珠筆等書寫工具的統稱，相當於中文的“筆”。

Mom： Let‘s head to that aisle。

媽媽：咱們去那排。

Aisle指超市貨架間的通道，這裡翻譯成“排”以符合中文語言習慣。

What kind of writing utensils？

什麼樣的筆啊？

Child： Pencils and mechanical pencils。

寶寶：鉛筆和自動鉛筆。

I also need crayons， colored pencils， and markers。

我還需要蠟筆、彩色鉛筆和水彩筆。

Mom： I’ve grabbed all of those。

媽媽：我都拿了。

Child： Okay， what‘s next？

寶寶：好的，下一個是什麼？

Mom： A pencil box， a pencil sharpener， pencil caps， pencil grips， erasers and aruler。

媽媽：鉛筆盒、轉筆刀、筆帽、握筆器、橡皮和尺子。

Mom： I’ll let you pick out the pencil box。

媽媽：你來挑鉛筆盒吧。

Child： Look at all those colors！

寶寶：看有這麼多顏色！

I‘m going to pick a purple one

我要選一個紫色的，

because that’s my favorite color。

因為那是我最喜歡的顏色。

Mom： I like that one too。

媽媽：我也挺喜歡那個的。

I‘ll add the rest to the cart。

我把其他東西加到車裡。

Child： Okay， what’s next？

寶寶：好的，下一個是什麼？

Mom： Glue sticks， construction paper and blunt-tip scissors。

媽媽：膠棒、美術紙和安全剪刀。

安全剪刀，對小一點的孩子也可以說safety scissors。

Mom： It sounds like you‘ll be making some fun projects。

媽媽：看來你們會做一些好玩的東西。

Child： I hope so。

寶寶：希望是。

Next， it says I need five plastic folders。

接下來，它寫著需要五個塑膠資料夾。

Mom： I’ll let you pick out the colors you want。

媽媽：你來挑喜歡的顏色吧。

Child： The next things I need are book covers and labels。

寶寶：接下來是書皮和口取紙。

Mom： Alright。

媽媽：好的。

Do you need to buy notebooks？

你需要買本兒嗎？

Child： Yes， we need single-line notebooks， double-line notebooks， Chinese penmanship notebooks， and English penmanship notebooks。

寶寶：嗯，我們需要單線本、雙線本、田格本和英語本。

（1） 英語國家也有雙線本，但是在使用時，不像咱們只用寬的那行。

（2） 田格本的作用是練習漢字的書寫，因此我們把它翻譯成了Chinese penmanship notebook，penmanship是書法、書寫技巧的意思。

（3） 美國的英語本是這樣子的：

Mom： Got them。

媽媽：找到了。

What else does it say you need？

還說需要什麼來著？

Child： A desk cover， lunch mat， lunchbox， and tissues。

寶寶：桌套、餐墊、飯盒和紙巾。

Why do I need tissues？

我為什麼需要紙巾啊？

Mom： The tissues are for the whole class to share。

媽媽：紙巾是給班裡大家共用的。

Child： Okay， we‘re all done with the list。

寶寶：好的，清單上的東西都挑完了。

Mom： Are you sure we’re done？

媽媽：你確定咱們都挑完了嗎？

I think you‘re missing an important item。

我覺得你忘了一樣重要的東西。

Child： What’s that？

寶寶：是什麼呀？

Mom： How are you supposed to get all of those supplies to school？

媽媽：你怎麼把這些學習用品拿到學校呢？

Child： In a backpack！

寶寶：用書包！

Mom： Exactly。

媽媽：完全正確。

You pick one out。

你去挑一個。

Child： I can‘t wait to start school。

寶寶：我等不及開學了。

I feel super ready now。

我覺得準備得非常好了。
