“teacher‘s pet”可不是“老師的寵物”！

每個人都經歷過學生時代，也都曾想成為老師喜歡的學生，如果有人說你是“teachers’ pet”，你會不會很驚訝，為什麼是老師的寵物？其實這個短語想表達的意思是“the teacher’s favorite student”也就是老師最喜歡的學生~

比如奧斯卡影后娜塔莉·波特曼（Natalie Portman）從小學到高中成績幾乎都是A，我們可以說She’s the teacher’s pet。（她備受老師青睞。）

1。 bookworm

“bookworm”並不真的是一隻蟲子，而是熱愛讀書的人。

它的英文解釋為：

If you describe someone as a bookworm， you mean they are very fond of reading。 書呆子 ［非正式］（多用做褒義詞）

例：

How many of you out there are bookworms？

你們中有多少人是書迷呢？

但是如果你想形容只會死讀書的書呆子可以用pedant［‘ped（）nt］

If you say that someone is a pedant， you mean that they are too concerned with unimportant details or traditional rules， especially in connection with academic subjects。

也就是說這種人往往過於拘泥細節或者傳統，有點死讀書了。所以這個詞帶有貶義色彩。

例：

Everybody at the meeting is a droning pedant。

會上人人都是單調地、說個沒完沒了的學究。

2。 brainstorm

美國人在面臨難題的時候往往會坐在一起交換意見，找出解決問題的方案。不管是在私營公司，或是在政府機構裡，這種現象是常見的。美國人把這種做法叫作：to brainstorm。

Brain就是腦子，storm就是暴風雨。Brainstorm是一個字，意思就是：群策群力，頭腦風暴。

例：

She brainstormed the possible approaches she might take。

她用頭腦風暴法想出了她可以採取的可能方法。

3。 copycat

字面意思“抄襲的貓”。

但其英文解釋是：If you call someone a copycat， you are accusing them of copying your behavior， dress， or ideas。 抄襲者 ［非正式］

在學校裡你可以理解為“抄作業的人”。

例：

The Beatles have copycats all over the world。

甲殼蟲樂隊在全世界都有抄襲者。
