“make someone see stars”不是“讓某人看到天上的星星”

If you see stars， you are partly unconscious because you have been hit on the head。

想一想，除了抬頭望天之外，你還能在什麼時候看到星星？就是被撞倒或是打到眼冒金星的時候了。所以see stars又有“眼冒金星”的意思。

而make （one） see stars其實就是指“揍人”（to strike one in the head）揍到ta眼冒金星。

例：

I bumped my head on the door， and saw stars for some five minutes afterwards。

我一頭撞在門上，接下來的5分鐘裡，眼前金星直冒。

If you damage my car in any way， I‘ll make you see stars！

如果你想隨意破壞我的車，我會揍你！

“You’re a star。”是什麼意思？

劍橋英語詞典裡對“You‘re a star”是這樣解釋的：

something you say to someone when they have been nice and helpful to you

當你對他人伸出援助之手時對方說的話

其實是在誇你：你真是個大好人。

=It’s very nice of you。

相當於我們常說的：你真是我的大救星。

例：

Thank you so much for giving me a hand。 You‘re a star！

非常感謝你幫了我的忙。你人太好了！

I really appreciate what you did for me。 You’re a star！ Thanks a million。

我真的很感激你為我所做的一切。你真是個大好人！ 萬分感謝。

但實際上也有明星的含義：

如果你真是明星名人，You‘re star。也可以是：

你是大明星， 這裡的star=明星。

get stars in one’s eyes

get stars in one‘s eyes不要按照字面理解為“眼睛裡有星星”，實際的意思是“自鳴得意”。

例：

He got stars in his eyes just because he got the lead role in the school play。

他僅因為自己是校園劇中的主角，就洋洋得意。
