頻寬是什麼

有這樣的說法：習慣上，人們都將網路的“頻寬”作為網路所能傳送的“最高資料率”的同義語。這樣的說法有何根據？

我還沒有找到這種說法出自哪一個國際標準檔案或重要的RFC檔案（歡迎讀者告訴我）。但是在一些著名國外教材中可以找到類似的說法。例如，

有本書上寫著：

If you see the word “bandwidth” used in a situation in which it is being measured in hertz， then it probably refers to the range of signals that can be accommodated。

When we talk about the bandwidth of a communication link， we normally refer to the number of bits per second that can be transmitted on the link。

Throughput is a measure of the rate at which data can be sent through the network， and is usually specified in

bits per second
