Cold in the earth-

and the deep snow piled above thee，

Far， far removed，

cold in the dreary grave！

Have I forgot，

my only Love，

to love thee，

Severed at last

by Time‘s all-severing wave？

艾米莉·勃朗特

曾被譽為十九世紀22位傑出詩人之一，

英國著名詩人及評論家馬修·阿諾德

（Matthew Arnold，1822-1888年），

曾寫過一首詩叫做《豪渥斯墓園》，

其中憑弔艾米莉·勃朗特的詩句說：

她心靈中非凡的熱情，

強烈的情感，

憂傷與大膽，

是“拜倫之後，無人能與之媲美的”。

艾米莉的大部分詩篇都是描寫大自然，

幻想的貢代爾王國的悲慘事件。

或自己的親身感受。

她常獨自徘徊在荒野中，

體驗大自然與人靈息相通的那一瞬。

她的詩在內容題旨和藝術手法上

都有著創新和超前。
