組合詞是什麼意思

BBC六分鐘詞彙 - 組合詞

Hello and welcome to 6 Minute Vocabulary with me Finn。 。 。

歡迎收聽六分鐘詞彙,我是費恩。

And me Alice。 And today‘s show is all about binomials。

我是愛麗絲。本期我們要學的是組合詞。

Or as some call them, binomials。 Yes, those short and sweet phrases English speakers love to use in everyday English。

也叫做組合詞。那些說英語的人喜歡在日常英語中使用簡短而甜美的短語。

We’ll look at what binomials are, what they mean and how to use them。

我們將會了解什麼是組合詞,如何運用它們。

There‘ll be a cheap and cheerful quiz。

然後會有個簡單的小測試。

And we’ll leave you with a quick and dirty tip for learning vocabulary。

傳授你學習詞彙的超棒妙招。

So: to start off, let‘s listen to Charlie and his mum talking about football practice。

所以,首先,讓我們聽一下查理和他的媽媽談論足球練習。

Here’s a question to think about while you listen: what‘s a good treatment for aches and pains?

邊聽錄音邊思考:什麼是治療疼痛的好方法?

What’s good for aches and pains? Let‘s find out。

什麼對疼痛和痛苦有好處?讓我們來聽聽看吧。

Hello, love。 How was practice today?

親愛的。今天的練習如何?

Horrible。 I hate football。

很糟糕。我討厭足球。

Oh dear。 Why’s that?

噢,親愛的。為什麼?

I‘m sick and tired of being in goal。 Look at these bruises — I’m black and blue。

我厭倦了進球。看看這些瘀傷,我身上青一塊紫一塊的。

Let‘s have a look。 。 。 oh yes love, why don’t you jump in the bath?

讓我看一下……噢,親愛的,去洗個澡吧!

Warm water‘s very good for aches and pains。

溫水對疼痛和痛苦非常有益。

So, that’s Charlie and his mum。 And we asked you: what‘s good for aches and pains?

這就是查理和和她媽媽的對話。所以,我要問你:什麼可以緩解疼痛和痛苦?

And Charlie’s mum says the answer is: a warm bath。

查理的媽媽說:洗個熱水澡。

That‘s right。 And the phrase aches and pains is our first binomial。

你答對了。痛苦和痛苦是我們的第一個二項式。

Now binomials are short English phrases made of two words that go together — and the two words are often joined with and。 Like aches and pains。 Which means: general pains in the body, that usually aren’t serious。

現在,組合詞是由兩個單片語成的簡短英語短語,並且兩個單詞經常與 and 連在一起。像 aches and pains,這意味著:全身普遍疼痛,通常並不嚴重。

Ok, now it‘s important to remember that binomials are always fixed: you can’t change anything about them。 You can‘t say pains and aches。

好了,現在重要的是要記住組合詞總是固定的:一點也不能改變。你不能說 pains and aches。

You can’t say aches and hurts and you can‘t say hurts and pains。

你不能說 aches and hurts 或 hurts and pains。

So, Alice。 Do you suffer from aches and pains?

那麼,愛麗絲。你有感覺過疼痛和痛苦嗎?

Sometimes, Finn, when you’re around。 Anyway, poor Charlie said he was black and blue。 He‘s talking about the bruises on his body he got from playing football。

有時候感覺過,當你在身邊時,Finn。總之,可憐的查理說他身上青一塊紫一塊的。他說的是踢足球后身上的瘀傷。

Black and blue? Must have been a tough game?

青一塊紫一塊?一定是一場艱難的比賽吧?

Yes, no wonder Charlie said he’s sick and tired of football。

是的,難怪查理說他厭倦了足球。

Sick and tired。 It means really fed up and bored with something。 And remember, we can‘t say tired and sick。

Sick and tired。意思是真的厭倦了或對有些東西感到無聊。記住,我們不能說 tired and sick。

We can’t say sick and bored either。 What are you sick and tired of at the moment, Finn?

我們也不能說 sick and bored。你有厭倦什麼嗎,Finn?

Well I‘m sick and tired of commuting: travelling to work。 It took me about an hour this morning。

我厭倦了通勤:來上班。今天早上我花了大約一個小時。

An hour? That’s a really long time。

一個小時?這可真夠久啊!

And another binomial: bit by bit — this time, the word in the middle is by instead of and。

還有另一個組合詞:bit by bit——這次,中間的單詞是 by 而不是 and。

And we‘re talking about binomials。 And if you were listening carefully at the beginning of the show you might have noticed that we used a couple of binominals right at the start。

我們在談論組合詞。而且,如果你在節目開始時仔細聆聽,你可能已經注意到我們在開始時就使用了一些組合詞。

Short and sweet was one of them — it means simple, quick and useful。

Short and sweet 就是其中之一,意思是簡單,簡短還實用。

Short and sweet or: quick and dirty。 That’s another binomial with a similar meaning: quick and dirty means simple, short and basic。

Short and sweet 或者:quick and dirty。這是另外一個有相似含義的組合詞:quick and dirty 的意思是簡單,簡短和基本。

And another similar one is: cheap and cheerful。

另一個相似的是:cheap and cheerful。

So, three binomials there you can use to describe something as quick, simple and basic。

因此,你可以使用三個組合詞來描述快速,簡單和基本的事物。

Now let‘s hear today’s expressions again。

讓我們再來看看今天的表達。

-Aches and pains。 -It describes body pains that aren‘t serious。

-Aches and pains。-它描述了不嚴重的身體疼痛。

-Sick and tired。 - Fed up, bored and angry。

-Sick and tired。-厭倦了,無聊又生氣。

-Bit by bit。 -To describe slow change。 And to say something is simple, short and basic we had three binomials: Short and sweet; quick and dirty; cheap and cheerful。

-Bit by bit。 -描述緩慢的變化。形容一些東西簡單,簡短和基本,有三個同義的組合詞:Short and sweet;quick and dirty;cheap and cheerful。

Thank you Alice。 And now it’s quiz time。

謝謝你,愛麗絲。現在要做小測驗了。

So。 Number 1。 Choose the correct answer: I‘m learning French。 It’s difficult, but I‘m getting better a) bit by bit b) bit by little c) bit and bit。

1,選擇正確的答案:我正在學習法語,很難,但我在……變好。a) bit by bit b) bit by little c) bit and bit。

And the answer is: a) bit by bit。

答案是:a) bit by bit。

And the answer is: b) black and blue。

答案是:b) black and blue。

Ouch。 And finally, number 3。 At only one minute long, the presentation was a) sweet and short b) cheerful and cheap or c) quick and dirty。

最後,3,只有一分鐘,這個演講是 a) sweet and short b) cheerful and cheap or c) quick and dirty。

And the answer is: c) quick and dirty。

答案是:c) quick and dirty。

And that brings us almost to the end of the programme。

本期的節目就要接近尾聲了。

But before we go, here‘s a cheap and cheerful tip for remembering vocabulary: play games。

在結束之前,有個記單詞的妙招:玩遊戲。

Making and playing a simple card game where you match up the beginning and ends of binomials will really help you to remember them。

製作和玩一個簡單的紙牌遊戲,將組合詞的開始和結束匹配起來,將真正幫助你記住它們。

That’s right。 And there‘s more about this at BBC Learning English dot com。 Join us again for more 6 Minute Vocabulary。
