閱讀英語時，“音形義”都必須是英語的，你做到了嗎？

She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little。 He was surprised to hear that。 He had never heard of hair growing back。 Cancer victims who get chemotherapy often lose their hair。 It often grows back。 But he hadn‘t had chemotherapy。 He asked if she was sure。 He couldn’t see any new hair。 Yes， she was sure。 His hairline was “proceeding1” instead of receding2， she said。 She said that she was growing hair， too。 “I never used to have hair on my legs，” she said。 Now she was growing some hair on her legs。 She showed him her legs。 He couldn‘t see any hair。 He asked her if she had been drinking。 She said of course not。 “Do you doubt me？” she asked。 He said no， of course not。 He was just joking。 But the next day he made an appointment with an eye doctor。

這是一篇高中水平的英語。從語言的“音形義”三要素上判斷，如果你在閱讀（默讀）這篇英語時腦中出現的“音形義”三者“都不是英語的”，而是中文的，也就是詞彙的“音”必須是英語的發音，“理解”英語詞句的“義”也必須是英語的，也就是“英語之外有英語”（因為不涉及寫作，要求單詞寫出來時一個字母都不出錯，所以，這裡的“形”可以不加考慮）。如果“音”是中文的發音（詞句被翻譯成中文了），“義”也是中文的（用中文理解英語），那麼可以斷定，你離真正的掌握英語這門語言還有相當長的路要走。

以下僅舉幾個例子加以說明：

你閱讀（默讀）She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little這句英語時，是直接“讀”成英語 She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little，還是“讀”成大致如下的中文“她說他頭上的頭髮又長回來一點點了”？

如果你是把英語 She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little流暢地直接讀成英語She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little，而且因為這只是高中程度的英語，應該是不用“回讀”，而是一次讀下去就能“明白”裡面的英語意思。這就叫做“音是英語的音”。它說明你的英語口語應該不錯，否則你會發現自己的英語不僅讀的不好，反應到口語上也會出現“口語很爛”的現象。

你讀到英語She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little時，你大腦裡是否會出現“英語之外還是英語”，即會說出大致如下的英語：Okay， he was bald，he had a bald head，etc。

這就是所謂的“音”“義”都必須是英語的例子。

從這裡你可以看出自己英語的差距：

很多人：

習慣把英語“翻譯”成中文來讀，這樣的“英語閱讀”就把“音是英語的”破壞了；

不是不能把英語She said that the hair on his head was growing back a little“翻譯”成中文的意思，而是不能“主動使用”英語，從the hair on his head was growing back a little這句英語中做到“英語之外有英語”，即“使用”bald，bald-headed這樣的英語。

一個不能主動使用英語，只能把英語翻譯成中文閱讀的英語學習者，很難說他的英語在日常口語表達時，在英語寫作時具備很強的表達能力和用詞能力。

“音”“義”都必須是英語的，這正是我們需要不斷加強訓練的語言能力。

訓練的第一步，就是養成英語閱讀（默讀）時“音必須是英語的”。
